Donation Requests
Our vision for Gecko Climb is to create a space where everyone can belong and bond over a shared enjoyment of climbing. It is also a space where we can both affirm our own identities and build empathy for identities different from our own, something that is increasingly missing in our world today.
At Gecko Climb, we are committed to supporting our community through donations, sponsorships, and in-kind contributions. We believe that climbing and community go hand in hand, and we want our contributions to reflect our values of inclusivity, fairness, and social responsibility.
If you would like to request a donation or sponsorship, please review the following guidelines and criteria:
Guidelines for Requests
- Requests should be submitted through the contact form at the bottom of this page at least four weeks before the event or initiative.
- Please provide details of your organisation, the purpose of your request, how the donation will be used and how it aligns with the 3 priority criteria below.
- Due to limited resources, we may not be able to fulfil every request, but all applications will be considered carefully.
- We do not provide support to initiatives that conflict with our values of community, respect, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Priority Areas
Donation requests need to align with one of our three priority areas:
- Focus on Youth and Accessibility
- Reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People
- Advocate for Justice and Human Rights
Focus on Youth and Accessibility
We strongly value programs that create opportunities for young people, disadvantaged groups, or those who may otherwise face barriers to participating in sport or recreation. We believe that climbing and community activities should be accessible to everyone, regardless of background, ability, or identity.
Examples include:
- Programs and initiatives that improve access for LGBTQIA+ community members to sport and community activities.
- Youth-focused initiatives that break down financial, social, or cultural barriers to participation.
- Projects that promote inclusion of young people living with disabilities, ensuring that adaptive opportunities are available in sport and recreation.
Reconciliation with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islader People
We are committed to reconciliation and to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We prioritise programs and initiatives that are Aboriginal-led, culturally safe, and grounded in community values and knowledge.
Examples include:
- Programs that advocate for evidence-based youth justice policies which reduce harm and promote positive futures for young people.
- Culturally safe, community-led initiatives that support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who are, or are at risk of becoming, involved in the youth justice system.
- Initiatives that foster connection to Country, culture, and community as part of building resilience, wellbeing, and leadership among young people.
Advocate for Justice and Human Rights
We believe that sport and community spaces should not only promote physical health, but also stand as platforms for justice, fairness, and respect for human dignity. We are committed to supporting initiatives that advance human rights, amplify marginalised voices, and contribute to a more just and peaceful world.
As part of this commitment, we will prioritise initiatives that:
- Stand in solidarity with movements for peace, justice, and equality.
- Call for an end to the genocide in Gaza and support efforts to uphold the dignity, safety, and rights of Palestinian people.
- Advocate for broader human rights issues, including gender equity, anti-racism, and protections for vulnerable communities.
